Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Present day medical education stresses on the understanding of normal personality development and dynamic processes which underlie psychopathology as well as the art of dealing with these and the application of this knowledge to the patients care.
Special attention is paid to understand the common psychological problems seen in clinical practice and special attention is given to the community psychiatry when medical students participate in clinical experience with psychiatric patients. They learn to take case history and conduct mental status examination.
A full-edged department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has been established. The department is headed by a qualified Psychiatrist. Regular lectures are being delivered to the students of 1st year MBBS on Behavioral Sciences.
